The other day I was at a clients house and during a casual non-business related conversation I ask her if she had read any good books lately. She, a mother of two small boys, said, “Well, my book club is getting ready to read one.” I said, “Oh really, what?” She said, “I have no idea.” Puzzled, I questioned her further. The truth came out, apparently she is part of a group of young mothers that get together one night a month, spend time together, drink Margaritas and call it Book Club. She said, “When you are leaving your husband at home with the kids, really, you could hardly call it Margarita Club.” I thought this was all rather genius. So this beautiful pink Margarita is for Kim and Jill, two of my clients, in “Book Club” both extremely resourceful young women.
“Don’t blend; don’t water it down; don’t try to make it logical; don’t edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsession mercilessly.” Franz Kafka
“There are three rules for writing a blog. Unfortunatly, no one knows what they are.”
I have just come to realize the depth of my obsessive ways. I just spent the last two hours searching for the exact row of windows, that were the exact color I needed, from a building somewhere in my pics that I could half way remember had the window open. No wonder my short term memory is showing such distress. I am clogged, not only with remembered images, but with their exact color as well. Anyway here it is…a beautiful building in Prague well worth the search…see that open window…color me there.
Colormethere will probably turn out to be about several things; however, my original intention is that it will be about the elements of design, the language of the visual arts. I hope I can stay true to this mission and through these ramblings develop an awareness of these elements; color, space, texture, value, shape and line. As a practicing interior designer for the last twenty-five years, I have tried to help clients understand how their design was developing and why it was developing the way it was. I have tried to be a teacher as we moved along in the design process so that my clients ultimate selections were based on educated perceptions.
Along with this design/visual art education, a lot of art history is going to creep in as it goes hand in hand with all design.
Something about my brain…I just can’t resist the colorful…paintings, fabrics, and artistic lives. So…I guess…that said, colormethere has a mission…and time will tell. *
* also book posts, food posts, and posts about anything insane and colorful.
